It started with a hunger that couldn't be satisfied — literally. Founder Joe Maddox grew up in Franklin, Indiana, obsessed with the Nashville hot chicken traditions his grandmother introduced him to on summer road trips. He spent years perfecting the family blend of spices, butter, and heat that would eventually become the backbone of the hangry joe's recipe.
In 2018, Joe converted a small kitchen space on Paris Drive into a pop-up hot chicken counter. The line wrapped around the block on opening day. Word spread fast — not just about the food, but about the experience: bold, unapologetic, made-with-love chicken with heat levels ranging from tender-sweet to "are you sure about that?"
